December 10th Meeting with CIW – From the Fields of Immokalee to Big Screens Nationwide

Coalition of Immokalee Workers will be at Immokalee Interagency December 10th meeting at noon.

Many of us who work in human services see every day the challenges of families living in poverty and feel the frustration of having to meet endless needs with limited resources.

During this season of giving we see countless acts of generosity, attempting to bring joy and somewhat a breath of normalcy for working struggling families. We professional helpers strive to empower our clients to become self-sufficient and less dependent on charity and welfare. However, when we stop and reflect we understand that individual responsibility and charity are necessary, but not sufficient for problems bigger than the families we serve and the organizations we represent.

It is my honor and privilege to invite you to welcome some of the protagonists of a workers driven social responsibility program and what has been called “One of the great human rights success stories of our day” (Washington Post) which has earned the praise of human rights experts from the White House to the United Nations (New York Times):

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers: “From the Fields to Immokalee to Big Screens Nationwide.”
